History of Newton Abbot & District Branch REA
Initial Formation occurred on 27th February 2003 at the Newton Abbot Royal British Legion Club where we held our first meeting. There were 13 ex-Sappers present and we discussed what we wanted to do and how we were going to go about it.
On 27th March 2003 we held our second meeting and decided that we wanted to form a Branch that would fill the gap in the Devon area. Many potential members had expressed their desire to have a Branch that was easier to get to and more within their locale. To this end we remained 'informal' and concentrated on building our membership up.
By mid-2003 we had built up our membership, formed a Committee and decided that we would like to become an 'Official Branch' of the Royal Engineers Association. Our intention is to remain very 'informal' with the minimum required 'formality' at our meetings. It was felt that it was more important to get the Sapper Community together in a relaxed atmosphere.

New Members and those interested are always welcome to attend our Branch meeting held at The Newton Abbot Royal British Legion Club.
